artemis ACT 2 Spring Arm
In the course of the constant development of the artemis product family we realized the new ACT 2 spring arm. Our aim was to put the needs of artemis users, our long experience in this field as well as new materials and production processes into practice. Design and function of the spring arm reflect on the one hand the core competence of Sachtler and on the other hand our ability to apply new technologies and high tech materials used in aircraft construction.
Main goals of the development were not only to reduce the weight of the arm but also to increase the arm’s rigidity and to maximize its reaction time at the same time. Advanced aeronautical technologies and solutions provided us with the means to make the new arm 1.21 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. This was achieved by developing a lightweight cavity profile that is also the reason for the increased rigidity of the new spring arm. The new spring arm enables quick, precise and soft operating, implemented by the new form that distinguishes itself by smooth and rounded outlines.
Additionally, we also improved many little details within the new spring arm.
The new turnover mechanism of the mating block can be adapted to the preferred operating side in an extremely quick and safe manner. Another new feature of the new ACT 2 arm is the possibility to adjust the angle between the arm and the operator’s body more freely. The mating block is 3 millimeters higher now; this allows a steeper angle adjustment.
But despite this modification the arm still fits into vests of other manufacturers and offers also with their vests more possibilities to adjust the angle between the arm and the operator’s body.
Features- Sachtler ’s new artemis ACT 2 includes a full range of design innovations

ACT 2 Arm Carbon Upgrade
Replacing the aluminum “bones” of the ACT 2 spring arm with the ultra light, rigid and torsion-free carbon fiber “bones” caused additional weight reduction of another 500 gr. / 1.10 lbs.
The ultra lightweight design enables high-speed operating and longer-lasting takes. The ACT 2 carbon upgrade offers the same technical features as the ACT 2 aluminum spring arm.
Carbon is used more and more often in modern aircraft construction, and in the field of racing car construction the use of carbon has been the standard since many years. But our main reason was to further cut down on weight. The carbon version of the spring arm weights another 500 grams less than the aluminum version.
Based on the special experiences of our suppliers, we are able to produce carbon parts in series now. New production methods provide high reliability and safety for the products and replace manual lamination that is a quite unreliable production method.
The aluminum arm is already an unbelievably quick and agile arm, but the carbon version is even better. Operators who shoot many sport shows or must walk fast or run while shooting for other reasons will appreciate the arm’s light weight and the fact that it stays in steady position during fast movements.
